Kyoto Cultural and History Museum is located on the cornor of Sanjo St.  and Takakura St. in Downtown Kyoto. The building was built in the Meiji period (about 100 years ago).  It used to be a branch of the Bank of Japan.

Inside, you can still see the evidence showing it was a bank before.  There is a permanent exhibition about Kyoto's history and culture. There are many miniture models of Kyoto's historical building, which includes the Old Imperial Palece and the Great Rasho Gate.

Outside of the museum, there is a coffee shop, which is super contemporary. You can enjoy coffee, beer, and some finger food.
